This award is to recognize the contributions of an outstanding nurse in the field of Urology. The annual recipient of the award will be a nurse who has gone above and beyond in his/her role and demonstrated care, innovation, transformation and collaboration that supports an exceptional patient experience.
AWARD

The winner will be announced and the award presented at the BAUN Annual Awards Dinner on Monday 17th November 2025. PLEASE NOTE that in order to win an award, you MUST be in attendance at the Awards Dinner.
CRITERIA
1 This award is designed to honor a Urology nurse who provides or supervises direct patient care.
2 Candidates may be nominated by a member of their urology team (e.g. nursing or allied health professional colleagues, urologist colleagues or by hospital management.)
3 Or candidates may nominate themselves.
4 Each application shall be composed of:
- This completed application form.
- Curriculum vitae of the nominee.
- A letter of support from a senior member of the nominee’s team.
- Further supporting evidence as outlined in section 9.
SUBMISSIONS
The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 31st August 2025.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO NOTE
1.1 Criteria for Review
Applications will be reviewed and scored by a panel comprising BAUN and TUF representatives. Criteria will include:
- Clear articulation of the goal or initiative and its impact on the patient experience
- Demonstration of improved outcomes and evidence based supporting interventions
- Evidence of how the outcomes were disseminated across the organization and the tactics used to obtain buy-in and influence and sustain a culture of excellence
- Process(es) employed to involve the multidisciplinary team, and the effect of the initiative on the nominee’s own practice
- Impact of interventions on the cultural, behavioral, clinical and operational aspects of the care provided at the organization
- Supporting Statement
1.2 Use of Funds
A grant of up to £2,000 will be awarded. £250 will be for the personal use of the winner and up to £1,750 can be used for training, educational events, attending conferences, or for making improvements to their unit that would benefit patients or nurses. The grant will be paid on receipt of a report of the activity undertaken and submission of expenses receipts.
1.3 Termination of Award
The award must be taken up and used within 24 months, otherwise it will be rescinded.
1.4 Reporting Requirements
Awardees must submit a report on how they have used the funding, any lessons learned and how this may benefit patients or their team. Any report or publication arising from work supported by The Urology Foundation must acknowledge The Foundation. This report may be published in print or online.
1.5 Non-discrimination

1.6 Further Applications to the programme
Successful applicants will be subject to a one-year moratorium (dated from the completion of their project) before they can reapply to the programme for further projects.
